Another Birthday Party!

My “Little” boy is turning THREE this weekend! WOW! I am so blessed to have this munchkin to call my very own!

So we are having his birthday party this weekend. I love planning and throwing birthday parties. I have soo many ideas for my daughters future parties… but I had a hard time thinking of something for my guy! I don’t want to go the way of a “licenced” theme (not that there is anything wrong with it – it just isn’t what I like to do).

We are having a “BONFIRE Party!”

With Halloween coming up – we were going to have a bonfire (we have a lot of stuff to burn!) but I thought it would be a great theme for a party so we are doing it a bit early! We are going to have a BIG bonfire and also a smaller fire in our fire pit for roasting hotdogs and marshmallows (This is a parent and child party – if you are wondering why I am throwing such a hazardous themed party!!!). We are going to hitch a trailer to the lawn tractor or atv and have some rides around the yard. We are going to have a scavenger hunt and some other outside games. I am going to make some bonfire cupcakes ( I will post a tutorial on how I do that later!) and for the goodie bags – My daughters paino teacher is also an amazing cookies maker. She is going to make bonfire cookies! I am planning on putting one in a bag with a rocket pop and some glowsticks. Each bag will have a special tag with the kids name on it.

I will let you know how it goes!!!!!

Alive Inside!!!! JULY 23rd 2011!!

I am soooo EXCITED to post about this amazing event that is so close to my heart! On Saturday July 23rd we will be having our 10th annual outdoor rock concert event ALIVE INSIDE! It started in 2002 as a CD release party for the band Fridays Cry and has transformed into the biggest christian event on Vancouver Island! Each year has brought more people and more top quality performers, including Tree 63, Thousand Foot Crutch,Leeland, Sonic Flood, Starfeild, Corey Doaks, Manafest, John Reuben and so many more!

Last year it was decided that instead of charging people for tickets, we would be offering them FREE OF CHARGE! Now if you have been to Alive Inside in the past you will realize that this is not some inexpensive, unexperienced event. This is a professional and well run festival! So offering it free was a huge step of FAITH for our church (The Oasis) BUT we did it and soooo many people came and sooo many people heard the gospel! HOW EXCITING! So tickets are FREE again!!

So if you are looking for an AWESOME time!! Come and hang out at ALIVE INSIDE! Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and hats and enjoy a day of great music and great people. Bring the kids and enjoy the kids carnival (maybe they’ll win a bike!), bring some cash to buy your dinner from the awesome concession, do some shopping at the artist merch area and to GIVE AN OFFERING to help cover expenses!

GRAMMY-nominated progressive rock act Leeland has been known to deliver songwriting beyond its years and worshipful rock so genuine it disarms the honest cynic. Often quoted as one of Christian music’s most gripping live bands, the 2006 debut Sound of Melodies and 2008’s Opposite Way quickly established Leeland as a leader in the worship community and beyond. While both previous albums were GRAMMY nominated and drew a combined eight Dove nominations, Leeland’s measure of success has always been the human heart. And now Leeland’s third album, Love Is On The Move is a landmark in the deepest sense.

In a market flooded with bands it takes something extra special to grab your attention these days. Rapture Ruckus are one of those rare groups that are cutting through the noise and connecting with people all over the world using their catchy blend of rock and hip-hop.

Perhaps the first real display of this magnetism in action came at New Zealand’s renowned Parachute Music Festival. There, fronted by talented producer/songwriter Brad Dring, they won the hearts of over 25,000 people and went on to break the festival record for Highest-Selling Debut Act.

So what is Rapture Ruckus? Big stadium-ready choruses. Raw honesty and passion. Songs that are captivating audiences all around the globe.

Maybe it’s about time you got some RUCKUS in your life?

For Fridays Cry the calling to touch heaven and see people changed through their music, has never been stronger. The name Fridays Cry is taken from when Jesus cried out “It is finished” from the cross.
The music is a blend of stylish rock and passionate choruses that find you singing along at the top of your lungs. Some would call Fridays Cry a rock band and others would say they are Worship leaders. “We want all we do to bring Glory to the Lord”. “Sing along choruses or big rock songs are all for Him and we just want people to join us in lifting our voices toward heaven”

Teaparty fit for the Princess!

So we finally had the “princess birthday tea party” this past weekend and it was wonderful! All the little sweethearts came dressed in thier “royal princess garments” including a few dashing princes! Here are some pics! (I am holding back any of this kids pics, even though they were sooo cute, for privacy reasons! I am sure you understand!)

Each little girl had her own teacup and placesetting, which also served as a party of thier goodie bags! They were sooo excited that they were allowed to keep thier cup. I put a little paper pillowbox with gumballs and a tiny decorated plastic box with pretty braclets as the rest of the goodie bag. But really I think that the cup would have been enough.

Food – I was shocked how much these little ones ate!!! Even though the party was after lunch! We had little cinnamon buns, pb&j sandwiches cut in cute little shapes, banana bread, fruit, veggies, and of course potato chips! Instead of realy tea we had Iced Tea and used a beautiful silver tea service. The cream and suger holders held jelly bellys which the kids ate right up!

Game – We played a really fun game. As the music played they passed around a pretty purse with little papers on it (like hot potato) and who ever had the purse when the music stopped had to do what the paper said! Then they got a prize. We kept it simple – “run in a circle” “act like a duck” and so on.

Craft – I saw a great tutorial on the emily jones blog ( and each girl decorated a princess party hat with sequins and gems and ribbons and stickers!

It was a great party and we are already thinking about next year!! Nancy Drew? …. I think so!
