Break Every Chain…

There is power in the name of Jesus…. To break every chain, break every chain BREAK EVERY CHAIN!

This morning in church we sang this song. While we were singing, the Lord showed me something. As we sang – I saw a person with their arms raised and they were bound by chains – with all his strength he pulled them apart and the chains broke apart. But he still had the shackles on his arms. The Lord showed me a different picture. It was that same man but when the chains broke – they broke at the arms, so the chains fell completely off. Then He told me this. When the Power of Jesus comes to break the chains off of us, they are broken off at the source, they are completely gone. He doesn’t leave the reminders around our arms and legs. He doesn’t leave the chains hanging causing us to stumble and fall. Whatever chains you are bound by – whether they are chains of addiction, anxiety, sadness, past, selfishness, sickness, lust….. Whatever chains that are holding you prisoner – The very NAME of Jesus has the power to break them off. So call out to the one who loves you, the one who has power, the one who was wounded for us. Call out to Jesus and leave those chains in a rusted heap behind you as you begin to walk humbly with your God.

He is the same.

He is the same. today. yesterday. forever.

He does not change. ever.

He is still the same God who made a covenant with Abram. He is still the God who gave barren women and hope and future and a child. He is the God who delivered a people from slavery, who supplied all their needs and took them to a land of promise. He is the same God who closed the mouths of lions. He is the same God who filled the widows bowls with oil. He is the same God who protects, provides, listens, encourages, creates and holds us as we read about in the bible. Most importantly He is still the same God who LOVED us so much that He gave His only Begotten son, so we could believe in Him and not die, but have eternal life.

This week in church I was reminded of these things. That even though I change, He has not and will not. He is still the God I cried out to in my times of trouble, He is still the God I thanked in times of happiness. He is still the God who gave me promises, a future and hope. No matter what I do or where I go, He will be there to love me, just as He has since the beginning of time.

Now replace the word Love with the word Jesus. He is all these things.

Like the rain.

It is raining.  It feels so good, it smells so amazing. The ground is soaking it in, things are refreshed and they are growing.

It has me thinking. What is it about the rain and Jesus.

Why is it when ever I hear the sound of the rain – I listen for His voice?

Why is it when I feel the drops on my body – I feel for His touch?

Why is it when I smell the rain coming – I look for Him?

Sometimes I feel like I am searching for my love, the perfect piece of me, the one who holds my heart.

Its like the rain reminds me that He is always there, pouring His love over me.

Jesus is like the rain.

Rain Down

looks like tonight, the sky is heavy

Feels like the winds are gonna change

Beneath my feet, the earth is ready I know its time for heaven’s rain, it’s gonna rain
Cos its living water we desire to flood our hearts with holy fire
Rain down, all around the world we’re singing

Rain down can you here the earth is singing

Rain down all around your people singing

Rain down rain it down on me.
Back to the start, my heart is heavy Feels like its time, to dream again I hear Your voice,

and yes I’m ready To live the life to sing Your song, to sing Your song Yes I belong
Give me strength to cross the water Keep my heart upon the altar Rain, rain it down on me. Give me faith to render heaven

James 5:18

Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.

Leviticus 26:4

Then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit

Zechariah 10:1

Ask rain from the Lord in the season of the spring rain, from the Lord who makes the storm clouds, and he will give them showers of rain, to everyone the vegetation in the field.

Psalm 72:6

May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth!

Good word.

“If better is possible, then is good – good enough?”

Mind blown… just a bit.

This was said sunday morning during my awesome pastors message. It was said with a whole lot of other amazing things – but this is what stuck with me. It is so simple. And so true.

If we know that complete healing is possible – why do we settle for halfway.

If we know that financial freedom is possible – why do we justify debt.

If we know that an intense love is waiting to be poured on us – why do we sit content with what we have.

If we know we can have an intimate relationship with God – why do we not say hello.

There are so many things in life that we settle for. Why should good be good enough. Why sit under the rainbow when you know there is a big pot of gold waiting for you at the end. Why settle for a life of contentment and mediocrity when there is a life of abundance with our name on it.

Just a thought.

There is something about the Love of Jesus.

Last week the history channel aired the final installment of “The Bible Miniseries” and I caught the last hour of it (my kids were awake and a lot of it was a bit to intense for them). It was from Christs resurrection to the book of revelations. It was… WOW! Anyways, it had an effect on me in a way I did not expect. I felt a connection with these men, with Peter, with John, with Saul/Paul – that I never felt before! It was like I finally realized what they went through, that they were real people. People with love, fear, pride, doubt and passion. They weren’t different from me, yes they lived in a different time – but a lot of the things that they encountered, we still do today. I am so filled with thankfulness that they didn’t give up.  That they fought the good fight!

“For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight,I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for methe crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day— and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:6-8

When I think of Saul/Paul – who this quote was from – I am overly moved by the love and forgiveness and grace that Jesus IS! Saul/Paul passionately opposed anything and anyone to do with Jesus. He made it his mission in life to dispose and discourage the followers of Jesus! And in turn – Jesus showed him mercy and LOVE and a new mission! To rise up, create and encourage believers in Christ! LOVE transformed him into a new creation.

What an amazing thing that is! It is the LOVE of God for us that He gave us HIS SON to take the sin of the world upon himself! It is the LOVE of God for us that changes our lives! It turns sorrow into gladness, hate into love, pain into healing, weakness into strength and most importantly it turns death into life.

Something I’ve been thinking about.

I went to a children’s ministry conference a few months ago. It was the second year I’ve attended and it did not disappoint! So many different things were spoken about (it was awesome!) but one thing that was mentioned has been rolling around in my head for the last week or so.

I need to be the parent to my children – that I want them to be to theirs.

I need to be the woman – that I want my daughter to become to be.

I need to be the wife to my husband – that I want my son to marry and my daughter to be.

I need to be the leader in my community and church – that I want my children to become.

I NEED to be the christian – that I want my children to be!

There are so many influences on our kids that are NOT OKAY! There are so many people and other things telling. and showing our kids what they need to become, how they need to think and what their value is. THAT’S MY JOB!

I want my children to become the best possible versions of themselves. I want my children to be amazing spouses and in turn HAVE amazing spouses, but how will they know unless I try to be the best wife I can be? How will my daughter learn to love herself, to love Jesus and show love to others unless she is shown it everyday by me? How will my children know what is possible for those who honour and love the Lord – unless I am stepping out in faith and going there myself?

So this is more than a challenge for myself, it is a life change. Join me if you want – or don’t, it’s up to you.

Be the change you want to see in the world. Be the change you want your family to follow.

“but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity”

1 Timothy 4:12

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Proverbs 22:6

How you doing? I’m Blessed!

So here I am, sitting in my living room with the fireplace blazing and a nice cup of tea, and I am again reminded how blessed I am.

I met last night with some awesome ladies from my church. We were having a “knitting and coffee” night at a local coffee shop. Other than the obvious knitting and the huge amount to chitter chatter, we were also there to talk about how awesome God is!

I put forth a challenge to them – to write a list of all the things that they were beleiving for, and put it somewhere you can see it, THEN write another list of all the things that you have been blessed with recently. Whether it is something you received free of charge or some amazing sale you happened upon, or even an event that occured that you were blessed by. This was not my original idea, my girlfriend has one on her fridge and was showing how many things they had been able to check off because they were provided for them. It was such a faith builder I decided to do the same. I was SHOCKED to look at my very long list of amazing blessings that I had received. God is Good!

“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible”                        Matthew 19:26

So what is on your list?
