My life as a kid of the King

I have discovered …. Ravelry.com

So has anyone here been on www.ravelry.com ? Seriously addicting!

“Ravelry is a place for knitters, crocheters, designers, spinners, weavers and dyers to keep track of their yarn, tools, project and pattern information, and look to others for ideas and inspiration. The content here is all user- driven; we as a community make the site what it is. Ravelry is a great place for you to keep notes about your projects, see what other people are making, find the perfect pattern and connect with people who love to play with yarn from all over the world in our forums.”

So I checked it out a few times and felt overwhelmed at the hugeness of it all (kinda like my first few times on facebook!) But I went again and watched the helpful tutorial/how to use video and it didn’t seem so scary after all!

It is a great place to connect with other people in your area and across the world, who love the same things you do! I joined a group that meets at a local coffee shop every once and a while to knit! How cool it that??? VERY!!

One thing I love is that you can download patterns and when you are done you can share your finished project! Also when you find a pattern you like, you can view other peoples finished projects and read thier comments. What a great way to keep people connected through things that they love.

Creativity – The use of the imagination or original ideas, esp. in the production of an artistic work

Quotes from Audrey Hepburn

Has anyone ever asked you the question “if you could meet anyone, alive or dead – who would it be?” ? Well I think my answer would be Audrey Hepburn …. and Snoopy of course.  So I thought that since I focused on her fashion in my last post, I would blog about some of my favourite quotes from Audrey:

If I’m honest I have to tell you I still read fairy-tales and I like them best of all.

Let’s face it, a nice creamy chocolate cake does a lot for a lot of people; it does for me.

You can tell more about a person by what he says about others than you can by what others say about him.

There is more to sex appeal than just measurements. I don’t need a bedroom to prove my womanliness. I can convey just as much sex appeal, picking apples off a tree or standing in the rain.

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.

You can always tell what kind of a person a man really thinks you are by the earrings he gives you

I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.”

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his or her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.

So who would you want to meet?

Fashion Friday (on a Saturday) – Audrey Hepburn

Well… it is a Fashion Friday SATURDAY!  Because I was at camp I had no time to blog – so now that I am home I wanted to blog about Audrey Hepburn and how wonderful she looked in her movie Roman Holiday with Gregory Peck. And since a picture says a thousand words – here she is!

It is no wonder why she is a fashion icon.

Solar Dying

I tried solar dying the other day and it worked GREAT! This is an wasy way to dye your fibres without having to keep watch of it on a stovetop. You literally jusy put aside and forget about it! Here are some instructions for those of you who might want to try it! (It works with both raw wool and yarn)

I used a few different mason jars – but any glass jar will do. It works best if you wet the wool/yarn first before putting it in the jar. Then add dyes, wool, HOT water, and vinegar in any way you like – I tried layering a few different ways and each time it came out differently. Really fun to It was awesome how there was different colours and varying depths. LOVELY!

I rinsed, spun in the salad spinner and left out to dry! Ready to become a wonderful skien of yarn!!!

The green and pink were done with with neon food colouring – the purple was with a fabric dye that I had laying around. Let me know if you try it!

Fashion Friday ~ Susan Nichole

Having such a passion for handbags, I was surprised at my continuous frustration in my endless search for a designer quality, yet animal friendly bag. I realized I needed to fill a void for a handbag with flair, elegance and beauty; without the use of animal products. And so it began.

I initiated my quest to create animal friendly bags that are beautiful, timeless and have the elegance for which I have longed; bags that women will love to carry and feel fabulous doing so.

~ Susan Nichole Co-owner and head of design

Not only does this company have beautiful VEGAN handbags and wallets, but to make it even cooler – every thursday via their facebook page they do GIVEAWAYS of their products!! I KNOW! AWESOME!
